About SARAH

Sarah Case, AMFT

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist #108259

From a young age I have been filled with questions about how people create meaning in their lives, and what gives us a sense of connection to something larger than ourselves. This search has been central to my lifelong curiosity about people and our journeys.  I have been a longtime yoga and meditation practitioner.   I remain an eternal student and am nourished by the rich philosophies throughout the world which offer inspiration on the path of life.

I was born and raised on the East Coast. I have lived in California for many years. I’ve also spent some years living abroad in Asia and Europe. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California.

Philosophy & Approach

In my work as a therapist, I bring an eclectic approach. I use a psychodynamic methodology incorporating aspects of yoga, mindfulness, breath awareness, art therapy, and somatic therapy. The depth psychological orientation informs much of my work: through the process of integrating the shadowed parts of ourselves we experience more wholeness of self.

Therapy offers the opportunity to receive compassionate and clear reflection on you and your life. This kind of care and support allows you to unlock the tools and guidance within. In therapy with me, you are able to examine yourself and your life in a safe, non-judgmental container.

Process & Offerings

Each person is unique and therapy proceeds differently for everyone. Overall common themes that people notice are:

  • Experiencing a feeling of returning to themselves,
  • A greater sense of self, more ease in the body,
  • Heightened inner knowing,
  • Increased pleasure in life,
  • Inner peace,
  • Greater clarity in communicating boundaries,
  • Greater sense of joy and connection in relationships

Therapy can also be hard work and can be challenging before it gets easier, but I am there with you throughout the process.

I bring my life experience, expertise, and diverse education to my therapy practice.  By creating an atmosphere of safety with a healing presence and conscious compassion, our work together can allow you to embrace your whole being and fully blossom into your best self.

I offer one on one sessions with adults, and couples counseling. My own life experience as an ex-pat means I am prepared to support people who are experiencing transitions around ex-pat life or any type of relocation.

Sessions are primarily available online via Zoom. I am also available for in-person sessions at selected locations in parks in San Luis Obispo.

I provide a free, complimentary 10-15-minute online consultation to explore if working together would be a good fit.
